Mike and I were introduced through mutual friends at Michigan State University in 2012. MSU’s campus will always have a special place in our hearts as we met, fell in love, and got engaged there in August of 2016. Mike proposed at a campus landmark, the Beaumont Tower. Michigan State legend says, in order to prove you are a ‘true spartan’ and to ensure you will marry your sweetheart, you must kiss in the shadow of the tower.

We celebrated our wedding day on a beautiful spring day at The Cheney Place in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. The venue is the perfect mix of vintage and industrial, and easily accommodated both our indoor ceremony and reception. When designing the look of our décor, I was drawn to neutral tones and opted for lots of texture and flair in the floral arrangements. To warm up the industrial space I mixed in long, wood farm tables and selected copper elements to be sprinkled throughout each table design.

Our wedding day was full of laughter, tears (the good kind!), good food, and dancing. These images remind me how nervous I was for our first look, smiling for photos until my cheeks hurt, and of the pure joy I felt when we were announced as husband and wife. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing!
